This weekend Anita and I traveled to Morija (a village about 40 minutes outside Maseru) for a Sesotho Language and Cultural Weekend. I am so glad that I signed-up to go. First of all the guesthouse where we stayed was amazing. It’s set up in the foothills of the mountain, has a spectacular view and was very cozy. Plus the weather cooperated and we had beautiful spring weather all weekend. I signed-up mostly to get to meet new people and secondarily to brush up on Sesotho. Sesotho and Setswana (the language spoken in Botswana) are almost identical, but not identical enough. Not to mention that I knew very little Setswana anyway. The language instructor was really good, I only wish that we had had more session with her over the weekend. Overall, it was a great weekend that I’d highly recommend for anyone new to the country.
