Molly is 6 months and 2 days old today so it was time to take her to the vet and have her spayed. (Actually, I made the appointment a couple of weeks ago because I knew that life would get in the way and I’d forget if I didn’t do it right when I remembered. The last thing I need is a litter of puppies.) I dropped Molly off in the morning and came back late this afternoon to pick her up. As I was waiting at the vet’s office there was this adorable kitten just hanging out on the desk. She was super friendly when I reached out to play with her. The vet’s assistant told me that she was one of four or five that had been left at the vet’s door one night. The vet took them in and found a home for all but this last kitten. They were planning to put the kitten down today because they can’t find a home for her, but didn’t have the heart to do it and were thinking of just keeping her as a clinic cat. Being the sucker that I am for cats, I offered to take her home with me. I have been seriously thinking about adopting a kitty and I kind of see this as serendipity stepping in. The vet’s office had named her Blossom and I think it fits her very nicely. She has made herself right at home and is currently curled up asleep on my bed.
Yes, I’m crazy and officially an owner of a dog AND a cat.
Oh, and P.S. Molly is doing fine. I thought she’d have one of those big cones around her head but she doesn’t. She is clearly stiff, got a little sick to her stomach when she first started moving around but she’s home now curled up on her bed and resting. The vet said I can walk her whenever she’s ready for it. This also seems like the perfect time to introduce the cat since she’s super chill and doesn’t have the energy to really disrupt anything.
Hi Heather–Haven’t checked your site out in awile. Loved the pics of the house–and my favorite–the one with Molly and Blossom together. Bunnie
