Looks like I need to go back to the short but sweet updates as they almost always lead to more substantive posts and regular posting here. Here’s the latest …
I ran my second 10k race at the end of July (where did August go?!) and, despite not training for it, cut 25 minutes off my time. It helped that although it was advertised as a trail race, the run was really 70-80% paved and not nearly as steep as the race in Cape Town. Now I’m looking forward to our Monday evening running Hash to start up again soon.
We have auditions this week for Maseru Players Company’s next production “Bat Boy: The Musical” (Seriously, follow that link and read the synopsis of the show. It’s going to be hysterical.) When we had our first meeting a couple weeks ago most of us were wary about getting wrapped up in another show but now that it’s underway we’re all excited again. It’s such a fun thing to do.
Four months from today I’ll be in Belize for Christmas vacation. 🙂
I’m putting out in public my intention to learn to scuba on a trip to Mombasa in October (I’m traveling to Nairobi for work so taking the weekend to go to the beach beforehand.) I’m really nervous about it, but getting over my fear of it is also something that I really want to do. Plus it’s item #1 on my 17 Before 2017 list. I figure if I put it here then I’ll be peer pressured into actually following through.
Learning to dive is no big deal. Living in Lesotho with a diving addiction is a problem, as the two are not congruous. There is some GREAT diving in Belize, so you do want to learn to dive before gong there (and going to Belize not being certified to dive is like going to Paris not how knowing to eat food or appreciate art.)
So many people have told me that learning to dive isn’t a big deal. We shall see. And, yes, the Belize trip is definitely an inspiration to finally check this off.
