Right now I am …

18/03/2013 by heatherawsumb

  1. Traveling back to Maseru after a week in Dar es Salaam for work and a weekend at the beach with my friends Sim and Carrie and their friends. There was good food, rousing games of Taboo and Apples for Apples, lots of laughing and plenty of sun and sand. A perfect weekend to relax.
  2. Listening to the sound of silence, even though I’m on a plane, thanks to a friends Bose noise canceling headphones. On the flight to Dar I slept for 3 of the 3.5 hours flying time – through food and drink and everything – thanks to the miracle of these headphones. As my friend said, “There is traveling before Bose and traveling after Bose.” I am seriously considering investing in a pair for myself.
  3. Giggling when I think about MPC’s latest venture – hosting a dinner dance/Masquerade Ball in June. After having a great time getting dressed up for an event to benefit the American International School we learned that it is super easy to organize an event at the nicest hotel in town. Obviously our minds naturally went to, “Why don’t we host an event ourselves?” And now it’s officially going to happen.
  4. Prepping for MPC auditions this week for our Fall production – “Urinetown.”. I’m responsible for doing the singing part of the group auditions. It was one year ago this past weekend (on St Patricks Day) that Brian, David, Katie and I dreamt up MPC. At the time I never imagined that it would still be going like this a year later, but I love it. MPC stuff makes me happy.
  5. Shaking my head in incredulity that next week is already Easter. I’m excited to travel to the Wild Coast with friends, but I’m also wondering where the first three months of 2013 have gone? Once I’m back from Easter it will be only 10 days until I leave for my trip to the US. Whoa.
