Get It Scrapped CT: Old and New Photos

03/07/2013 by heatherawsumb

July is the first month that my assignments for the Get It Scrapped Creative Team will be included in the articles on the GIS Blog. As they go up on the blog I will also share them here. (We get a heads up of what dates what articles will be published, so I’m writing this ahead of time.)

First up this month: Using old and new photos together. The assignment: Make a page the combines a recent photo (less than 3 years old) with an older photo (more than 10 years old). Here’s what I came up with:

2013-06_teenageself-forweb

Now & Then by Heather Awsumb | Supplies: Katie Pertiet: Away We Go Solids, Safety Tags, Sentiment Spots No 4, So Fine Element Pack, Dragon Trainer Element Pack, Label Strips: Rainbow No 1, Coin Holder Frames; Adrienne Looman for Websters Pages: Citrus Squeeze Paper Pack, Citrus Squeeze Digital Jewels; Britt-ish Designs: Tack It Down; One Little Bird Designs: Retrospective Kit; Zoe Pearn: Little Miss Sunshine Alpha Add-On; Vinnie Pearce: 100 Miles Element Pack.

I created two layouts for this assignment because I wasn’t completely happy with the first one I started. I eventually completed it, so it will end up in my scrapbook, but I liked this one better. I came up with the subject for this layout from a resource I bought a couple months ago “Three Sixty Five: Ideas for Blog Posts, Scrapbook Pages & Art Journaling Entries” by Kam Altar. The prompt was to tell how you are different from your teenage self. When I started to think about it, though, I realized that I’m a lot more LIKE myself then as I am now. The photo I had of myself as a teenager wasn’t great quality, but it was one of the few I have so I went with it.

What a great page about you. I like the details on that center band.

I love your journaling. You haven’t changed much in looks either, Heather!
