Get It Scrapped CT: Lift Yourself

07/08/2013 by heatherawsumb

The assignment: Share 2 page. One that you made without a sketch/template and one that you made as a lift of that first page. I love scraplifting, but don’t often do it of my own pages so this was a good challenge. The first page is one that I made when I was in the Guided Study Critique Workshop documenting an upcoming (at the time) reunion with my girlfriends from grad school:

My Life Is Better … by Heather Awsumb | Supplies: These Walls Kit by One Little Bird, Going Places Kit by One Little Bird and The Arden Sparrow; The Family Pet Kit by Three Paper Peonies; Tag Masks No 1, Gotta Love Brushes and Stamps No 4, Woodside Jangle Element Pack, Notebook Edge Frames No 3 by Katie Pertiet; Thank You Friend Brushes & Stamps by Ali Edwards; Date Me All Year Round by Pink Reptile Designs; Sunshine and Lollipops Kit by Zoe Pearn.

The second documents one of my favorite parts of spending Christmas in Germany with my sister a couple of years ago – gluhwein at the Christmas markets:

Gluhwein by Heather Awsumb | Supplies: Woodside Jangle Kit, Almost There Solids, Postage Strip Months, Classic Curled Photo Frames No 1, Basic Tags No 1, Tied Fasteners No 4, Cut Ups: Christmas, Linen Buttons: Winter Woods by Katie Pertiet; DIY Sticker Alpha by Patti Knox; Ripped and Stitched DIY No 2 by Lynn Grieveson; Masking Borders 2 by Lori Whitlock.

You can see that the second is a very literal take on the first design (I even used the same font for journaling, which was a total coincidence.). This is illustrative of my scraplifting in general – I find something that I like and try to replicate it. What I liked about the first design were the three slots for pictures, but that they weren’t lined up perfectly and the tags for journaling. It’s also got the classic “band” foundation, which I find is a go-to design for me. In the second I liked that I was able to work the title into the journaling. My titles are often short and to the point so you’d think this was something that I could do often. Design-wise, though, I almost never have my journaling and titles in the same area, so this is the first time I can think of that I’ve done this.
