I found this assignment one of the most challenging that I’ve done to date. I don’t think that my style naturally lends itself towards monograms. Also, when I think of monograms I immediately think of someone’s initials. This makes me think of scrapbooking your children, which obviously I don’t do. I had the idea to render the monogram using layer styles in Photoshop elements. I wanted a “letterpress” kind of look to the monogram so I started out trying different monograms and fiddling with all the different styles until I came up with something that I like. Then I had to find monogram initials to use. I was working on this assignment right after Maseru Player Company’s (MPCs) last show and decided to use the initials and journal about how much I *LOVE* MPC.
One other thing that stands out to me about this layout is that I am LOVING star motifs right now. They are so much more versatile than flowers! I have bought a few kits in the last few months just because of the star patterned paper or elements in them. Here I used patterned paper and a scallop element with cutout stars – both of which I’ve had in my “stash” for awhile. I especially love to use stars on pages about MPC because I think it gives a subtle reference to being “stars.” Ha!
Fun page! I love it.
