I am taking a cue from Ali Edwards (as always), trying to take a break from scrapbooking and documenting 10 things about myself right now:
1) I’ve said this a few times recently, but where did October go?? There was a holiday weekend at the beginning of the month, I went to a work meeting right after that and when I got back *BAM* it was October 15th. If I didn’t have so much to look forward to in November and December I would be in complete denial.
2) I bought this plant for my desk at work a few months ago and have successfully NOT killed in the following months. I’m quite proud of myself & almost everyone who comes to my office comments on the plant. I bought it because the instructions said it only needed 1 Tbsp of water every week. I give it a dash whenever I think of it and let’s just say that it’s not every week.
3) At work my team and I have been developing a concept this week for increasing the number of HIV-infected babies and children on treatment. A donor expressed interest in supporting the work so we’ve been writing up our ideas for potential funding. It’s difficult but exciting work.
4) I can tell that summer is quickly approaching because the social calendar is filling up. Especially on the weekends. Halloween parties, Joburg and a trip to Durban are all coming up.
5) I’m obsessed with this song and waiting excitedly for PTX Vol 2 to release in a couple of weeks:
6) I’m also obsessed with this:
7) A huge public thank you to the friends who have kept my family in their thoughts, or made donations to the LLS or any other support when learning the news about my Dad’s leukemia diagnosis. I have been so touched by everything. So far his treatment has gone about as well as you can expect, I think. He’s out of the hospital but not back to work and should be starting the follow up chemo today where he’ll go once a week for several weeks. His immune system still isn’t 100% so he has to avoid being around large crowds and sick people. It’s hard being far away and it makes me even more excited for our Thanksgiving plans.
8) My favorite tree is in bloom in front of the office (also another sign that summer is coming):
9) I loved this recent cheesy email from “The Universe”:
Keep dreaming, stay busy, and be happy, Heather, and your path, prince, agent, director, publisher, banker, biographer, new mattress, and CNN will all beat a path to your door.
10) The last time I was in Joburg I purchased The Sound of Music on DVD for $6. An outdoor viewing with a projector is in the works for the summer. Yes, it will be a sing along.
