Today is my five year anniversary of moving to Lesotho. As you can see from the scrapbook page above, it has me feeling a little reflective. (I saw the quote on Pinterest this week and it just hit me in the gut and I knew I had to make a page using it as my title/journaling.) My life in the ~12 months prior to my arrival in Lesotho were, in a word, chaotic. That year included big life milestones like my return to the US after a 3-year Peace Corps assignment, starting and graduating from a full time masters degree program and the official dissolution of my marriage. To say I was “reeling” from what life had handed to me would be putting it mildly.

The last 5 years have been some of the best of my life. It is impossible to list all of the people and events that have been important over the last 5 years. I glanced through my photos and the things that stood out to me (in no particular order) included:

  • Adopting my first dog
  • Running my first 10k
  • Hiking to the top of Mt Kilimanjaro
  • Being challenged and promoted at work
  • Traveling to more countries than I dare count here
  • Starting a community theater group
  • Playing Ms Pennywise in our production of “Urinetown”
  • Concerts, weekend trips, house parties, happy hours
  • Meeting some of my dearest friends in the whole world

and and list could go on and on and on. I have been so lucky. Here’s to what comes next.
