Sharing a layout today I made for the Scotty Girl Designs creative team using this weeks release: Dreams Come True Collection. I loved the fun, bold patterns and colors in the collection.

At first I didn’t think I had any Disney-related photos or stories to tell and then I remembered this picture from way back in 1998. It was our tradition on the SUU debate team to go to Disneyland on New Years Day between two debate tournaments held in Southern California. Once I had the picture in mind it took me less than an hour to put together the layout. Thanks to Facebook I’m connected with all the ladies in this picture 15+ years later!

This weeks release by Scotty Girl Design – the Eire Mini Kit – features a St Patrick’s Day/Ireland theme. I think that this is by far the most “themed” product I’ve ever used on a page. I’m not used to sticking primarily to one kit so being on the team has been a great creative challenge for me. It actually helps to get pages done when I stick to a kit rather than foraging through my supplies and trying out lots of options for paper and embellishing.

The layout was inspired by the Criss Cross Scrapbook Coach class at Masterful Scrapbook Design. As it says in the journaling, St Patrick’s Day always reminds me of Peace Corps because we arrived in Joburg on our way to Gaborone on March 17, 2005. I was flipping through old Peace Corps pics recently so when the kit came out I remembered that I had this picture from our mid-service training that was held exactly a year later – March 17, 2006 – and we celebrated with a St Patrick’s Day themed party.

It’s the first of the month (hello March!) and that means it’s the Company Stash release at Pixels & Co. Today I’m sharing a page I made for the Scotty Girl Design Creative Team using the Belle Alina papers and guilded elements that are part of the Company Stash:

Happiness Is ... by Heather Awsumb | Supplies: Belle Alina Papers, Belle Aline Guilded Elements, Noteworthy Papers and Masks by Scotty Girl Designs; Loosely Labeled, Jingle Element Pack, by Katie Pertiet; At the Moment and Identity by One Little Bird

I went through my photos with this kit in mind and found this one of me and my mom from the Skagit Valley Tulip Festival last year that I thought complemented the purples in the kit. I also used one of the phrases from the Belle Alina word art but typed it onto the journaling card as my journaling/title. Ironically I love purple in real life, but have a very difficult time using it in scrapbooking! I used Radlab to burn the edges and process the photo a bit. I think the guilded elements are my favorite part of the release this week.

I am super excited to announce that I was asked to be on the creative team for Scotty Girl Designs. Yippee! Yes, this is the exciting scrapbooking related news I hinted at a couple weeks ago. I  love Shannon’s patterned papers and am thrilled to be part of the team. I am also excited to be sharing my first layout using this week’s release – Recipe Maven. When I saw that the kit has a cooking theme I immediately thought, “Ugh, I don’t cook!” and then knew that would be the perfect subject for a page:

I am capable of cooking/following a recipe but usually I am uninspired too lazy to cook for myself. Plus I don’t like leftovers that much. For the layout I  looked through my photos for photos of food and found these three that I think tell a pretty good story: there’s microwave popcorn, my favorite treat/meal substitution; beer can chicken, one of the few specialties I have and crudités that represents my ability to chop of vegetables for salad and also another “specialty” that I like to bring to fancy meals. Ha!
